Killing Curse Build: The ×1000 Crit Meme Build
Killing Curse is the most absurd card in the game: 1 magic damage, ×1000 crit. A 3-match hits 1000 damage, and a 5-match mega crit hits 2000. It’s an easter egg from the developers, with its entire power riding on whether you can roll a crit.
Mechanic Breakdown
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Base magic damage | 1 |
| Crit multiplier | ×1000 |
| 5-match mega crit | ×2000 (×1000, then ×2) |
| Skill check | Spell-type (moving circle) |
| Unlock | Buyable in the shop after stage 15 (Arena era) |
| Upgrade | L1 cap (cannot be upgraded) |
Damage formula:
3-match crit = 1 × 1000 = 1000 magic damage
5-match all-same = 1 × 1000 × 2 = 2000 magic damage
It ignores levels and physical/magic bonuses (the base is only 1) — it’s pure crit gambling.
How to Make It Reliable
Killing Curse’s problem: crits need 3 adjacent matching symbols — pure luck. Three amplifiers:
- Luck modifier (core): each spin has a (4% + 2.5% × level) chance to directly overwrite into a triple-match crit (see Crit & Skill Check). At max level that’s a 14% chance of a free 1000 damage;
- Golden Key (6th reel): more reels make 5-match all-same odds climb exponentially — the 2000-damage dream depends entirely on it;
- Crit respin chains: after a crit the reels auto-respin for another gamble, and paired with the Ferocity passive it can chain endlessly.
Real Gameplay Performance
| Scenario | Performance |
|---|---|
| Normal fights | 3-match 1000 damage one-shots most enemies |
| ~7 crits to grind down, or three 5-matches | |
| Theoretically 11,000 crits — meme-tier, not realistic | |
| Arena | Fun up to floor 14, then the numbers fall behind |
Verdict: it’s a toy, not a strength route. Great for post-game fun, not the pick for full collection or Arena climbing.
How to Get It Early
- First clear the main story with the Bomb/Massive Blade build (Killing Curse only unlocks after stage 15, i.e. post-game);
- Once cleared, open the Arena or replay the main story, and reroll the shop until Killing Curse shows up (base price 15 coins);
- Loadout: Killing Curse ×2 + Diamond + maxed Luck modifier + Golden Key;
- Spin — and enjoy the 1000-damage numbers popping off.
Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Highest single-hit damage in the game | Crit-dependent — unlucky players will hate it |
| Unlocked already maxed (no upgrade resources needed) | Base 1 magic damage; zero output without crits |
| Maximum meme value | No growth; falls off in late Arena |
