Bomb Build Guide: The Community’s Strongest Build

From guide posts to negative reviews on Steam, one term is unavoidable: the Bomb build. Chinese guides call it the “invincible build,” Russian guides call it “Непобедимый Китайский Билд” (the invincible Chinese build), and Reddit and forums simultaneously complain that it breaks the balance while using it to climb the arena.

But most guides just say “take Bomb, Spin Blade, and Diamond” without explaining why. This article breaks the mechanics down to the core.

The Counterintuitive Fact First: Bomb Itself Deals No Damage

Read Bomb’s tooltip in-game carefully — its damage number is actually 0. What really matters is a hidden mechanic: it grants every attack after this one in the current turn extra magic damage, and this bonus stacks with each Bomb rolled. In other words:

Every time you roll a Bomb, every attack for the rest of this turn gains extra magic damage. The more Bombs you roll, the higher the bonus damage. It’s an amplifier, not a weapon.

Here’s the bonus damage each Bomb level adds per trigger (this bonus also doubles on a 3-match crit):

Bomb levelBonus magic damage per triggerOn 3-match crit
L1+5+10
L2+6.5+13
L3+8+16
L4+9.5+19
L5+11+22

Note: a Bomb 3-match crit doubles the “bonus damage” too — so roll plain Bombs first to stack up the count, and save crits for the finishing attack cards for maximum profit.

Why the Bomb Build Has No Cap

Example (L5 Bomb, full Bomb build on 5 reels, assuming 3 Bombs rolled and 2 attacks after in one turn):

Bomb ×3 → bonus magic damage = 11 × 3 = 33/hit
Attacks after ×2 → (base + 33) × crit multiplier

Now factor in respins: Spin Blade self-respins one reel per trigger, Diamond respins, and the Respin item respins 5 reels — the Bomb count can stack infinitely within a turn (theoretically almost 100 respins). After 10 Bombs rolled, each hit gains 110 bonus magic damage; after 20, 220… This is what the community means by “number inflation at its finest” (to quote Chinese guides).

Compare with direct damage builds: an L5 Massive Blade perfect check caps at 77 physical damage; a Bomb build’s per-hit bonus at L5 can stack into the hundreds or thousands. That’s the truth behind “only Bomb is viable” — not that other cards are weak, but that the Bomb mechanic is uncapped.

  • Spin Blade’s hidden value: it has a built-in passive not written in its description — after its attack resolves, that reel automatically respins once, effectively a free extra roll, and every extra roll is a chance at another Bomb.
  • Energizer: also an amplifier (+1.2 magic damage per trigger), stacks with Bomb’s bonus magic damage and also benefits from crit doubling.
  • Diamond: economy and respin in one, L10 cap (+1.0 per level), +10 coins per spin late-game.

Standard Flow

  1. Start: Poison Blade + Hammer + Coin (see starting loadout guide), survive the first 4 stages with Poison Blade;
  2. From stage 5: buy Bomb/Spin Blade the moment the shop shows them; remove Coin and Hammer whenever you can, and condense your reels toward “Bomb + Spin Blade”;
  3. After stage 10: Diamond replaces every economy card; Energizer replaces Poison Blade;
  4. Final form: reels = Bomb ×2-3 + Spin Blade ×1-2 + Diamond ×1 + Energizer ×1; backpack = Respin + Gem/Golden Key;
  5. Each turn: prioritize stopping on Bombs → let Spin Blade trigger its self-respin → earn coins with Diamond → finish with attack cards dealing basic attacks carrying explosion damage.

Upgrade priority: Bomb > Spin Blade > Energizer > Diamond. Bomb changes the game at every level; Spin Blade is second.

Real Gameplay Numbers

  • Stages 5-7: L3 Bomb, 3 Bombs in one turn = +24 magic damage per hit, small enemies die in a turn or two;
  • Stage 10: L5 Bomb + Energizer, after 6-8 Bombs rolled each hit adds 80+, Lord Slotor’s 13,324 HP goes down in about 2-4 turns;
  • Past arena floor 25: the per-hit bonus easily breaks a thousand; the community has screenshots of one-shotting late arena enemies;
  • Eggscalibur challenge: Eggscalibur’s 22.18 million HP is the only opponent that truly tests the Bomb build’s ceiling — see the Eggscalibur guide.

Variants and Notes

  • No-Diamond variant: transition with Gem (item) + Coin symbol; fewer respins but it comes online faster;
  • Manual timing: Bomb has no skill check, but you need to stop the reels manually to line up 3-matches — Bomb’s 3-match ×2 is key to the amplifier kicking in;
  • Bomb 3-match mechanic: the bonus scales off “Bombs rolled this turn”; what crit affects is the total damage after the bonus, so roll plain Bombs first and save crits for finishing attack cards for maximum profit;
  • Risk: Bomb can’t be bought in the first 4 stages (unlocked at stage 5), so you still rely on Poison Blade/Hammer early on; a pure Bomb reel is weak on its first turn before stacking up, so you need Iron Shield or healing to cushion it.
