Poison Build: The DoT-Stacking Sustained Damage Route

Poison is the only debuff in the game that can stack infinitely: poison damage resolves once per turn, then all poison stacks decay by 20%. The Poison build is a sustained-damage route built around “stacking poison” — slow to warm up early, but from mid-game on you’re racking up thousands of free poison damage every turn.

Poison Damage Model (Read Before Choosing)

Poison damage this turn = sum of all current poison stacks (each stack decays 20%/turn independently)
Example: 10+10+10 = 30 poison stacked last turn → this turn deals 30 → 24 remains
  • Poison damage ignores shields and hits HP directly (works on shielded enemies);
  • Poison never crits (poison stacks are a debuff, not a damage event);
  • Poison caps at 100,000 (no overflow issues);
  • The core loop is stacking poison higher every turn — the longer the fight drags, the more it hurts.

Core Components

ComponentPoison / effect
Poison Blade10 poison (46 poison/hit at L10 — best growth)
Rotten Sword10 physical + 15 poison (69 poison/hit at L10)
Poison Sickle (item)Active: 20 poison, 2 uses/turn
MushroomHeals 15 per turn (keeps the Poison build from being ground down)
Gouda+20 HP & +25 cap per turn (survival core)

Economy Route

Starting loadout: Poison Blade + Hammer + Coin (Poison Blade is the only one of the 11 starting items that applies poison directly).

  1. Stages 1-3: prioritize upgrading Poison Blade (+0.4 per level, L10 cap); Hammer handles the finishing blows — poison alone kills too slowly early on;
  2. Stages 4-6: grab Rotten Sword (unlocks at L3) whenever the shop shows it; buy Mushroom or Gouda for survival;
  3. Stages 7-9: Poison Blade L8+, Rotten Sword L6+, purify the reels down to double Poison Blade; stack 100+ poison per turn, and enemies start each following turn down 100+ HP;
  4. The Final Floor: maxed double Poison Blade + Gouda — Lord Slotor has 13,320 HP, so stack poison for 6-8 turns until it ticks for 500+ per turn and grind him down; note that he’s a 6-hit combo enemy, so the Poison build wants high HP (HP modifiers) or a revive item as a safety net.

Pros and Cons

ProsCons
Poison ignores shields, counters shielded enemiesSlow burn — weak early damage
Infinitely stacking, big late-game burstNo crits; ceiling below the Bomb build
All components available from the start / early gameGrinding bosses down takes many turns — low error tolerance

Who it’s for: players who don’t want the Bomb build and like the DoT rhythm. Arena performance: around floors 12-15 (poison stacks fall behind before the numbers inflate).
